En un final no aptos para cardiacos, Elliott Sadler llevó la bandera a cuadros de la Sparks Energy 300 en el Talladega Superspeedway. La última victoria de Sadler en la NASCAR XFINITY Series había sido en 2014, curiosamente en esta misma pista.
Tras el reinicio a la altura del giro 114 bajo tiempo extra, Joey Logano , piloto regular de la Sprint Cup y defensor de la carrera, lideraba al grupo hasta que perdió el control de su Ford No. 22 en un contacto con Sadler que desató el ‘Big One’ de la jornada.
Los oficiales de la NASCAR tuvieron que revisar los videos y eventualmente concluyeron que Sadler había sido el ganador, mientras que Logano terminó 26to.
Justin Allgaier , al volante del auto No. 7, llegó en 2da. plaza, seguido por Brennan Poole en el Chevrolet No. 48 para conseguir el 1er. Top 5 de su carrera.
Jeremy Clements y Brennan Gaughan terminaron 4to. y 5to., respectivamente.
El mexicano Daniel Suárez logró el 7mo. lugar y pierde con Sadler el liderato de la Clasificación de Pilotos.
