Sam Hornish Jr. debutó en la NASCAR XFINITY Series 2016 y sorprendió al llevarse la victoria en la American Ethanol E15 250 Presented by Enogen en el Iowa Speedway, tras liderar 183 de las 250 vueltas, al volante del Toyota No. 18 de Joe Gibbs Racing.
Fue su cuarta victoria en la serie y la primera desde 2014, quien compitió a timpo completo en la Sprint Cup Series el año pasado y fue llamado esta semana para reemplazar al lesionado Matt Tifft.
Ty Dillon fue 2do. en el Chevrolet No. 3 de Richard Childress Racing, seguidopor el Ford No. 22 de Brad Keselowski; el Toyota No. 19 del líder de la Clasificación de Pilotos, Daniel Suárez y Alex Bowman en el Chevrolet No. 88 de JR Motorsports Chevrolet para completar el Top 5.
Erik Jones, quien arrancó desde la Pole Position, terminó en el puesto 27 a siete vueltas del ganador, tras enfrentar problemas con el tanque de gasolina de su Toyota No. 20.
